About

Agus Budi Harto

My name is Agus Budi Harto, and I am currently the Chief Executive Officer of PT Generasi Milenial Cemerlang. I first became interested in computers during the early weeks of my career, around 1992. At the time, I was working as part of warehouse team of coal mining company. It felt remarkable when I saw other team member just to sit in front of a computer screen. While other employees spent their breaks enjoying snacks or chatting, I would borrow that computer to satisfy my curiosity.

I still remember typing “Tolong antarkan kopi (Please deliver coffee)” at the DOS prompt and seeing the computer respond with “Sorry, the command is unknown.” That moment made me realize that computers use English and recognize only specific commands. When I typed “Help,” it was as if a whole new world opened up to me—and from that point on, my curiosity only grew.

In day-to-day office life, I encountered a case where our team was managing a rotating loan scheme (“arisan”), where members took turns receiving pooled funds. I thought it would be much smarter to manage this with a computer. That idea introduced me to DBase III and the Clipper compiler.

From there, my self-taught journey in computing expanded. Moving on from basic databases and compilers, I explored PowerBuilder, which offered more modern database connectivity and better interfaces. My curiosity also led me to web development—learning PHP, MySQL, and other related technologies.

Even using just DBase III and Clipper, I was able to create many useful business applications at the time: a Fuel Maintenance System (FMS), a more flexible Inventory System alternative, a roster program for 6:1 scheduling needed in mining operations, and a Cash Transaction Program (CTP).

The CTP project in particular introduced me to PowerBuilder when the company wanted to modernize the system. I’m grateful that the CTP program is still in use by the company to this day. Motivated by my passion for computing, I pursued formal education in Information Systems from 2002 to 2006.

Around the year 2000, I came across an oil analysis device used to identify machine wear before failures occurred. It combined an old Pentium 1 computer with a kind of microcontroller. This experience led me to conclude that integrating two different dimensions—technical equipment and computer software—can deliver extraordinary value. Since then, I have continued experimenting with the Arduino IDE and built several home automation tools, such as controlling lights based on geolocation, creating water-level monitoring graphs, and scheduling automatic power for PlayStation rental equipment.

In 2007, I relocated to the company’s head office in Jakarta. Within the IT organization there, I contributed to building the Information Security Management System (ISMS). Beyond helping establish the ISMS framework, my key responsibility was to drive user awareness of information security among more than 30,000 employees spread across mining sites throughout Indonesia.

From 2016 to 2018, I continued my academic journey by completing a Master’s degree in IT at Swiss German University, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors.

In 2020, I was asked by my company's management to help process field data and develop models using SPSS Modeler alongside a team of Data Scientists. Among other projects, we built a model to notify relevant parties when heavy equipment in the field was moving too close to another vehicle, aiming to prevent collision incidents.

Alongside scripting in various environments (Android Studio for mobile, Xcode for iOS, PHP and ASPX for web, databases like MS SQL Server, MySQL, and Firebase Realtime, Splunk, Codeigniter framework, JQuery, Jquery Mobile, Bootstrap), in 2022 I was introduced to ServiceNow. This platform felt incredibly complete, highly flexible, and seemingly capable of almost anything. Its thorough documentation and vibrant user community make it an absolute pleasure to use.

This brief profile is based on real experiences so that readers can better understand my competencies—and see how I might help you in many ways. Thank you for reading.
